Barry Diller doesn’t carry any ID. That’s the sort of thing you learn when you are launching a radio program and have the luck to have one of the world’s most famous moguls as a guest on your first show. Special arrangements have been made to get him into the studio where he’ll chat with co-anchors and interviewers extraordinaire, Lesley Stahl and Cynthia McFadden.
So, yes, the wOw women are going live weekly* with WOWRadio starting this Wednesday, April 4th, at 11:00 AM EST on SiriusXM Stars Chanel 107. (Yup, you may have to sit in your car to hear us.) We’ve created it especially for those of you who are tired of listening to Supreme Court and healthcare debates.
Why, you ask? (How dare you.) Because we’re voracious in our curiosity. We particularly love to talk and pry and gossip with big shots — men and women who know more than we do, who have successful jobs or lifestyles (or not so successful but once were successful; or the not yet successful but will soon be successful) and who are living a big life. We are inviting them to come into an unusually intimate, truthful and frank conversation and hope to get them to tell us everything they know.
Back to Barry … we hunger to know what made this just-turned-70, still-sexier-than-ever man achieve his positions as (count this up) Chairman of Paramount Pictures, Founder of the Fourth Network (as Chairman of Fox, responsible for bringing you “Cheers” and “The Simpsons”,) head honcho of QVC, not to mention the Home Shopping Network, and lest we forget , The USA Network. He is also Chief of Interactive Corp (IAC) which owns Match.com and the Daily Beast. And, perhaps his greatest conquest, his wife, the oh-so-much-more-than-a fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg. Of course there’s also Barry’s boat … the biggest sailboat in the world (here is a picture of me and Mary Wells Lawrence in front of it.)
In our second segment on the show, we are thrilled to be chatting with Washington Post writer and author, Liza Mundy. Her newest book, THE RICHER SEX, was just featured on the cover of TIME Magazine and focuses on how the new majority of female breadwinners is transforming sex, love and family. We are hoping to learn more about how this irreversible trend of American women out-earning their men means and what the transformation (women as hunters and gatherers?) will bring.
Candice Bergen will join us at the end of the show … she’s about to star in Gore Vidal’s THE BEST MAN opening on Broadway and we want all the details.
